Ich habe gerade nochmal einen Blick in alte Blogposts geworfen und gemerkt, dass sie von damals einer Handvoll Fotos "etwas" angeschwollen sind. Na gut, war auch wieder ein Monat. Damals habe ich sie noch zerstueckelt. Und es ist hier viel schoener!
I looked into my old posts and noticed that average number of pictures per post grew ... a little bit. Okay, it's a hole month and back than I made 4 per month. And it's much more beautiful around here, but don't tell my north american friends!
Meine Route ist die rote Linie (selbst gefahren) und die gruen gestrichelte (Faehre).

Meine Route verlief, wie eingezeichnet, ueber die Carretera Austral, das aufwendigste Projekt Chiles Geschichte und das Ergebnis militaerstrategischer Erwaegungen eines Diktators, welche inklusive Unterhaltung mehr als eine Milliarde Dollar gekostet hat und zwischenzeitlich ueber 10.000 Soldaten beim Bau beschaeftigte.
My route went, like painted above, over the Carretera Austral, the most expensive project in the history of chile and result of the military considerations of a dictator, costing 1 billion dollar and employed 10.000 at a time.
Zuallererst fuhr ich aber von Puerto Montt nach Suedwesten, um auf die Insel Chiloe und auf eben jener bis zum Ende der Ruta 5 vorzustossen.
At first I went southwest from Puerto Montt, to cross over to the Island of Chiloe and on it to the end of the Ruta 5.
Wuerde ich waehlen!

Der Hafen von Chaiten und damit offiziell mein erstes Stueck Carretera Austral. Nettes Omen uebrigens, ueber dem Boot schoenstes Wetter, ueber dem Land graue Wolken.

El Amarillo hat von der Strasse aus gesehen genau drei Haeuser und anscheinend jede Menge Humor. (Auf dem Schild steht "El Centro del Mundo", was Zentrum der Welt bedeutet.)

Ich lasse die einzelnen Bilder jetzt einfach mal so stehen, nicht alle brauchen eine detaillierte Beschreibung und Verortung. Nur soviel: Die Carretera ist eigentlich ueberall wunderschoen und die Highlights schlagen einfach fast alles. Wer jemals ein Motorrad, Fahrrad oder sonst etwas (selbst) durch Suedamerika fahren will, hat hier meiner Meinung nach eine der schoensten Strecken der Welt zu entdecken. Fuer mich ist es bisher DAS Highlight meiner Reise und der erste Teil, bei dem ich jetzt schon sicher bin, dass es nicht das letzte Mal war. Vieles laesst sich leider nicht auf Film und Foto bannen, so habe ich kein Bild hinbekommen was die Pierdra del Gato (das Bild mit Bruecke) in all seiner Maechtigkeit gebuehrend festhaelt, auch sind die vielen kleinen Paesse wohl nur aus dem Flugzeug oder mit entsprechenden Faehigkeiten im Umgang mit Kameras einzufangen. Beides steht mir derzeit leider nicht zur Verfuegung. Mich wuerde echt interessieren was Peter hier fuer Fotos machen koennte.
I won't comment on every single picture, you don't need a detailed description or the exact location to enjoy them. Just this much: The Carretera is nearly everywhere beautiful and the highlights beat more or less everything. If you ever have the chance to cruise around in south america go there, because it's one of the best tracks in the world. For me it's my favorite part of my journey so far and the first part where I'm sure, that I will return. Many thinks are not easely captured by my camera, for example the one with the bridge. It's a huge massive, turkis glowing stream embedded in white artful shaped rocks. And you are standing on the bridge, right above it. Maybe you need a plane or the right skills to capture all these moments, but I have neither. Would like to see what my skillful friend Peter would make for pictures in an adventure park for adults like that.
Die Bilder bis hier sind von der Kreuzung nach Chile Chico bis Argentinien, den Pass den ich schlussendlich nehmen musste, weil meine Faehre nicht fuhr. 1300 km Umweg, einfach mal so. Weil ein Boot nicht faehrt. Willkommen am Ende der Welt.

Ein bisschen musste ich dann auf den Bus zurueckgreifen, um nicht komplett aus meinem Zeitplan zu fallen. Der brachte mich dann nach El Chalten, wo ich mit James (Australier, in einem der Bilder weiter oben) bis zum Fitz Roy und ein bisschen in der Umgebung gewandert bin. Das sind die dazugehoerigen Bilder.
I had to take the bus for a bit, not to fall behind to much. With this I arrived in El Chalten, where I went hiking with James (australian, in one of the pictures a little bit above) till the Fitz Roy and the surrounding area. Those are the pictures of it.
Von da an ging es dann endlich mal wieder aus eigener Kraft weiter, wobei jetzt schon die Entscheidung gefallen war, dass ich am Ende auf den Bus zurueckgreifen werden sollte, weil die Zeit eben nur fuer eine Sache reichte: Wandern oder Radeln.
From this point on I could resume on my bike, but the decision to take the bus at least on the last bit had been done already. I only had time enough for one: Hiking or biking.

Wieder so ein riesiger Abenteuerspielplatz fuer Erwachsene. Werde meine Tage hier nie vergessen. Nur eine Empfehlung wuerde ich euch mitgeben: Nehmt wasserfestes Schuhwerk mit.
And another giant playground for adults. Will never forget it. Just one recommendation: Consider waterproof gear, especially footwear.
Danach ging es nach Puntas Arenas, die wichtigste Stadt Chiles hier unten. Bekannt fuer Prachtbauten, sowohl fuer die Lebenden, als auch die Toten.
Afterwards I went to Puntas Arenas, the most important town of Chile in the south. Famous for it's magnificent builds for both, the dead and the living.

Ich bin ans Ende der Welt gefahren und habe endlich mein Lieblingstier in echt gesehen. 2-3 Koenigspinguine, passend mit total knuffigen Hofstaat. Sie liegen auf dem Bauch, wackeln mit ihrem Stiez und watscheln umher. Ich will einen Pinguin!
I drove to the end of the world and finaly saw my favorite animal in wild life. 2-3 king pinguins with a huge court of other incredible cute pinguins. They lay on there stomach, wag there tail or waddle around. I want to have one!
Es gibt die Tage eventuell noch einen zusaetzlichen Blogeintrag, in dem ich mich mit dem perfekten Tourenrad auseinander setzen werde. Es ist soweit durchdacht, nur muss es noch sauber ausformuliert werden und ein bisschen Zusatzrecherche der Anschaulichkeit will ich auch noch durchfuehren. Wann ich das naechste Mal Zeit habe, weiss ich nicht, versprechen will ich daher nichts.
There might be another blog entry in the next days concerning the perfect bike for a trip like that. I have the rough structure and the content, but have to formulate everything. And a little bit of effort for vivid material and pictures is also not wasted on this, I think. That's why I can not promise a certain day, but I'm working on it.
