Titicacasee und La Paz, lago Titicaca y La Paz

Nach einem sehr langen Aufenthalt in Cusco ging es dann doch endlich weiter.

After a looong stay in Cusco I resumed my travels.

Nur ein kleiner Pass, dann beginnt der Teil, den ich in meinem Tagebuch "Brandenburg" getauft habe.

Only a small mountain pass, afterwards starts the part that I called "Brandenburg" in my diary.
 Pasada una pequeña montaña, empieza la sección en mi diario a la que he llamado Brandemburgo porque….

.. weil es einfach so verdammt leer und flach ist. Nein, war schoen. :) Nicht weil es unbedingt einfacher war, der Wind hat die Steigung ersetzt, aber es war mal eine nette Abwechslung.

.. because it was damn empty and flat. No I enjoyed it. :) Not necessarely it was easier, the wind replaced the elevation, but it was a nice change of pace after all the mountains.

…pues  el camino es tan increíblemente plano y vacío. Pero claro, lo disfruté. Y no fue necesariamente más fácil recorrerlo porque el viento sustituyó lo empinado pero  fue un buen cambio.

Puno-Suchbild. Was findet sich normalerweise nicht direkt im abendlichen Feierabendtrubel? Kleiner Tipp: Wiegt bestimmt 60 Tonnen.

Puno-Search-Game. What do you normally don't find in the evening between stands and people enjoying their ... I'm puzzled to find out that you don't have an english word for "Feierabend". The time after work. Anyway, there is a small hint: It weights about 60 tons.

Unser erster Campspot am Titicacasee. Wir befinden uns auf einer Klippe oberhalb der Strasse und werden mit einem wunderbaren Sonnenuntergang belohnt.

Wir haben diese Wolke noch Ewigkeiten in der Nacht betrachtet, vor allem weil sie im Sekundentakt von Blitzen durchzogen wurde.

We watched this cloud for quite a while. Mainly because there where lightnings in and below it all the time after the sunset.
 Estuvimos mirando esta nube por un largo tiempo. Principalmente porque después de la puesta del sol presentaba constante actividad de rayos.

Start am naechsten Morgen. So gut wie es halt nur geht.

Ein paar Planken, ein 40 PS Motor, voilà: Eine Faehre. Axel war schon andere Gefaehrte in Mittelamerika gewohnt und geniesst es offensichtlich mehr als ich.

A few planks and a 40 PS engine make up a ferry. Not what we are used to but enough to get us over the lake. Axel seems to be used to this kind of basic engineering and can enjoy the trip a little bit more than I do.

Unos tablones, un motor de 40 HP y voilà: un transbordador. Al parecer Axel está más acostumbrado a esta  tipo de tecnología y disfruta el viaje un poco más de lo que yo lo hago.

  

Unser 2. Campspot auf einer Halbinsel.

Evo Morales. Er ist ueberall. Ob auf Plakaten, im Radio oder eben auch mal hier, am Wegesrand auf einer Kundgebung. (Er ist der Typ rechts am Mikrofon, mit dem Hut.)

Nachdem wir durch neu entstandene Staedte wie Juliaca und El Alto gefahren sind, die boese gesagt Moloche sind und denen man auch lieb nur einen sehr begrenzten Charme abgewinnen kann, kamen wir nach La Paz. Unsere Erwartungen waren durch Erzaehlungen und bisher Gesehenes etwas gedrueckt, so fuhren wir in den Talkessel ein, den La Paz komplett beherrscht.

After driving through cities like Juliaca and El Alto, that are new grown molochs, we didn't expect much of La Paz. After hearing and in other towns seeing not the most pleasant things we drove into the valley that La Paz occupies as a hole.
 Después de pasar por nuevas ciudades como Juliaca y El Alto, no teníamos grandes expectativas para La Paz. Después de haber visto y oído  cosas no muy placenteras en otras ciudades pasamos por la Cuenca que la Paz ocupa en su totalidad.

Aber wir wurden angenehm ueberrascht. Neben den ueblichen Kolonialbauten ist La Paz nicht unbedingt das, was ich eine Schoenheit nennen wurde. Trotzdem hat es einen schwer zu beschreibenden Charme, der La Paz zur ersten Stadt in Suedamerika macht, in der ich es mir vorstellen koennte zu leben. Lebendige Strassen, Geschaefte, witzige Loesungen fuer Platzprobleme (bis hin dass unter der Kathedrale Geschaefte untergebracht sind, siehe Bild oben), gute Preise, nette Menschen ... und auch ganz huebsche Frauen machen La Paz zu einer Entdeckung, die ich so nicht erwartet haette.

But we where suprised, in a good way. Next to the mandatory colonial buildings, La Paz isn't exactly a beauty. But it still has a charm that makes La Paz to the first city in south america where I can see myself living. Livly streets, shops, funny solutions for the problems with the space (to the point where they build shops below the main cathedral, see picture above), good prices, nice people ... and good looking women make La Paz to a discovery, that I did not expect.
 Pero nos sorprendimos, de buena manera. Además de algunos edificios coloniales, La Paz no es precisamente una belleza, pero tiene algo no sé qué, que la hace ser una ciudad donde podría imaginarme viviendo. Vívidas calles, tiendas, buenas soluciones para solucionar la falta de espacio (como llegar al punto de abrir una tienda abajo de la catedral. Ver la foto de arriba), buenos precios, gente linda…y bonitas mujeres hicieron de La Paz un descubrimiento que no me esperaba.

Ich musste lachen. Verdammt. Ich muss selbst jetzt beim Schreiben wieder lachen. Gefunden im Nationalen Kunstmuseum Boliviens.

Das letzte Bild fasst den Geist der Stadt ganz gut. Alt neben neu, lebendig und trotz vieler Fehler und Widersprueche doch sehr angenehm. Liegt vielleicht auch an der Nutella, die man hier endlich mal wieder kaufen kann. :)

The last picture summarizes the spirit of the town pretty good. Old next to the new, lively and even with all the mistakes and problems they have very comfortable. That ... and maybe partly that you can buy Nutella.

La foto de arriba resume el espíritu de la ciudad muy bien. Viejo junto a Nuevo, con vida y hasta con errores y problemas la pasan bien. Eso y…uno puede comprar Nutela .

Cusco / Machu Picchu

Sooo bevor ich wieder ins internetlose peruanische und bolivianische Hinterland Suedamerikas verschwinde, noch ein Eintrag zu Cusco und Machu Picchu. Cusco ist ... ein Schlaraffenland. Deutsche Schokolade, japanische Hightechbikekomponenten, schnelles peruanisches Internet und ueberall mit Babyalpacas posierende Peruaner. Fuer jemanden, der aus den aermsten Regionen Perus hierher gelangt, ist das ein richtiger Zucker- und Preisschock. Aber gut, ich mache das Beste daraus und erwische mich dabei, wie ich seeeehr gluecklich an einem franzoesischen Croissant knabbere. Wenn mich ein Broetchen, eine warme Dusche und etwas Schokomilch ein Leben lang so erfuellen koennten, lebte ich ein glueckliches Leben. Man braucht halt Beduerfnisse, die den eigenen Mitteln entsprechen oder Mittel, die den eigenen Beduerfnissen gerecht werden, um gluecklich zu sein. Aber genug pseudophilosophische Erguesse, kommen wir zu Cusco und Machu Picchu.

Sooo before I leave into the direction of the internetless peruian and bolivian borderlands here is a blogentry about Cusco and Machu Pichu. Cusco is in short ... a land of milk and honey. German chocolate, japan high tech bike components, fast peruian internet and everywhere baby alpacas with cute small peruians posing for pictures. In traditional cloth I've never seen before. After coming from the poorest regions of peru this is a sugar and a price shock. But well, I take advantage of that and catch myself siting in a frensh bakery totally content with life in any aspect. Simply because I have a goood croissant, a warm shower and chocolate milk. If this would make me happy all my life to this extent I'd live a good life. You need the needs that fit your resources or the resources that fit your needs to be happy. But enought pseudo-philosophical bull ... things ;) Lets get to Cusco and Machupichu.

Pues bueno, antes de que atraviese las fronteras bolivo-peruana de no acceso al internet, aquí dejo una entrada más al blog sobre Cusco y Machu Picchu... Cusco, en pocas palabras, es una tierra de leche y miel. Chocolate alemán, componentes japoneses de alta tecnología para bicicletas, internet peruano de alta velocidad, alpacas bebés con pequeños lindos peruanos posando para ser fotografiados con atuendos típicos que jamás había visto. Después de pasar por la región más pobre del Perú, esto parece pura azúcar y también un choque por los precios! Pero bueno, lo tomo lo mejor posible y me encuentro sentado en una panadería feliz disfrutando de mi vida. Uno necesita las necesidades que pasan a tus recursos o los recursos que pasan a tus necesidades para ser feliz. Bueno ya, suficiente pseudo filosófica mier…manita toca el piano ;) vamos a Machu Picchu y Cusco.

Cusco ist der "Eingang" zum alten Tal der Inkas, wobei die ganze Region vor Ruinen nur so strotzt. Also Ruinen der Inkas, der Spanier und von den heutigen Peruanern erbaute. Wobei halt nur die ersten beiden Typen Geld einzubringen scheinen.

Cusco is the "entrance" to the old valley of the incas. The hole region is full of ruins. There are the ones of the incas, the ones of the spanish and the ones build by modern day peruians. But only the first two types seem to make money.
Cusco es la “entrada” al viejo valle de los incas. Toda la ciudad está repleta de ruinas. Las hay de los incas, de los españoles y de las construcciones peruanas de tiempos modernos. Pero de alguna forma sólo las primeras dos generan dinero.

Cusco ist eine wunderbare, sehr homogene Stadt im Stil der alten Kolonialherren, wobei viele Fundamente noch von den Inkas stammen. Wunderschoen verschachtelt und dank der Touristen auch fast ueberall renoviert, erstrahlt Cusco im neuen Glanz, nachdem es lange eine der aermsten Staedte war. Das hat die Stadt aber gluecklicherweise vor Bausuenden bewahrt. Erst die Entdeckung Machu Picchus leutete den heutigen "Reichtum" ein.

Cusco is a beautiful and very homogenous town in the style of the old colonial rulers, where many walls and fundaments are still from the incas. Wonderfully arranged with small streets and thanks to the tourists renovated, Cusco is glooming in new brilliance after beeing one of the poorest cities for quite a while. This prevented most sins that would have destroyed the ambience. Starting with the found of Machupichu (by a german, ehem) the town became wealthy again.

Cusco es un pueblo muy bonito y homogéneo, al estilo de los antiguos conquistadores y con fundamentos de los incas. Pequeñas calles magníficamente organizadas y, gracias a la actividad turística, renovaciones por doquier, Cusco brilla con intensidad después de haber sido una de las ciudades más pobres por un largo tiempo. Esto la previno por un tiempo de los pecados que hubieran podido romper el ambiente.  Empezando por el descubrimiento de Machu Picchu que hizo que el pueblo prosperara.

Hier uebrigens ein spanisches Kloster gebaut auf Inkamauern, das dafuer bekannt ist, dass bei jedem Erdbeben der spanische Teil einstuerzt und die Inkamauern stehen bleiben.

This is by the way a spanish monastery, built upon inca walls, that is famous for crumbling down whenever a earthquake happens. Only the inca parts survive every single time without damages

Por cierto, este es un monasterio español, construido sobre ruinas incas, que es famoso por dañarse con cada temblor.  Sin embargo los cimientos incas poco se dañan.

Der bekannte Inka-Markt von Pisaq, wo sie freundlicherweise Afros fuer weniger gut ausgestattete Europaer verkaufen. Sehr nett von ihnen.

The famous inca market from Pisaq, where they sell afros for the lesser fortune europeans (when it comes to hair). Very nice of them.

Der lange Weg nach Machu Picchu. Zuerst faehrt man ueber den Malagapass auf 4330 Metern, bis es wieder auf nur knapp 1000 Meter herab geht. Nur um dann wieder auf ueber 3000 Meter aufzusteigen.

The long way to Machupichu. First you drive over the mountain pass malaga at 4330 meter. And afterwards down to around 1000 meter above see level just to get up again to 3000 meter.

El largo camino a Machu Picchu. Primero hay que ir por la montaña pasar Málaga 4330 metros  y después bajar a unos 1000 metros sobre el nivel del mar  para volver a subir a los 3000 metros. 

Das letzte Stueck ist eine Wanderung entlang der Gleise bis zum Fuss von Machu Picchu. Wuuuunderschoen. Die wesentlich teurere Zugfahrt rast einfach nur durch, waehrend wir es in aller Ruhe geniessen koennen.

The last bit is a small hike along the railroads till the bottom of Machupichu. Beeeautiful. The much more expensive train simply races through, whereas we have the time to enjoy it as long as we want.

El último tramo es una pequeña caminata a lo largo de las vías del tren hasta  la base del Machu Picchu. Heeermoso! El trayecto en tren es mucho más caro y pasa por ahí rápidamente, mientras que de esta forma pudimos contemplar la vista cuanto quisimos.

Unser Zeltplatz 1 km vor und knapp unter Machu Picchu. Direkt am Fluss in diesem wunderschoenen Tal bauen wir unser Zelt auf, gehen schwimmen und werden direkt nach Einbruch der Nacht von hunderten Gluehwuermchen umschwaermt.

Our camping place 1 km before and below Machupichu. Directly at the river in this beautiful valley we built up our tent, go for a swim and are suprised by fireflies that swarm around us as soon as the night falls.

Nuestro primer campamento  estuvo abajo, antes de la entrada a Machu Picchu.  Directamente al lado del río sobre el valle. Ahí pusimos nuestras tiendas,  para después dar un chapuzón y después ser sorprendidos por enjambres de luciérnagas que nos rodearon tan pronto como cayó la noche.

Ich lass das einfach mal unkommentiert stehen. Nur soviel: Machu Picchu ist einfach die schoenste Ruine Perus. Und die wahren Highlights meiner Reise waren eigentlich bisher die natuerlichen Formationen. Nur Machu Picchu fuegt sich da so schoen ein, dass man es einfach nicht von seiner Umgebung getrennt betrachten kann ;)

I don't want to comment too much. Only this much: Machupichu is the most beautiful ruin in all of peru. The highlights on my trip so far where mostly natural formations, but Machupichu is one with his beautiful formations. You can not differenciate between the astonishing mountains and the interesting remains of this old culture.
No comentaré más. Sólo diré que Machu Picchu es la zona arqueológica más hermosa de todo Perú. Hasta ahora lo que más ha destacado en mis ojos es la belleza de las de la naturaleza, sin embargo Machu Picchu parece tener su propia forma natural. Es difícil diferenciar las impresionantes montañas de los restos de las construcciones incas.

Zum Schluss noch ein paar Bilder von meinem Weg zurueck nach Cusco, von wo ich heute nach Suedosten starten werde. Entschuldigt, dass ich das Wort "wunderschoen" hier so ueberstrapaziert habe, aber ich habe das Gefuehl ihr werdet mir verzeihen ;)
