Costa Rica - Nicaragua - Honduras

Jeah, I'm 7 countries further down the road, I have to catch up a little. ;)

Wenns die mal bei IKEA gaeb? Costa Rica (reiche Kueste) halt.

If they had this at IKEA? Costa Rica (wealthy coast).

Was mir in diesen Laendern immer wieder auffaellt: Brueste. Bitte keine Freud'schen Anspielungen!

What always amazes me in these countries are breasts. There is a direct corelation between strict rules, catholicism and the number of churches and the number of breasts at places ... where they used to only invite good friends. And please no Freudian Jokes!

Also ja, komplett.

San Jose has quite a few interesting houses, fitting for the swiss of central america. Here you see a neoclassicistic house, which was imported from europe. Yes, as a whole. While other houses had frensh and italien architects and where proven to be stable by germans (I had to smirk) and errected by local enterprises, this house consists entirely from steel beams and plates and was shipped over from belgium.

Pictures speak for themself. Even all the "interesting" facts I'd normally write below them are already included. Irazu was definitely worth the visit.

Ohne Witz mit die besterhaltensten Schienen Lateinamerikas. Man muss sie halt nur nutzen!

Some of the best preserved train tracks I've seen in all of latin america. You just have to use them!

Sehr sympatisch.

Isn't it the best you can do to encourage people not to waste their lifes in our mindless performance society? By handing sloth pictures out on a high valued bank note?

Gebaeude der Grenzkontrolle zwischen Costa Rica und Nicaragua. :)

Building of the border controll between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. :)

The old and the new Cathedral of Managua. There are only a few buildings that say so much about the town. In a terrible earthquake in 1972 the town was completely destroyed. Only 5 buildings survived, one of them the old cathedral that has many cracks and is closed of ever since. The rest of managua was rebuild with concrete. The town consists more or less entirely of one or two floor houses, the new "centers" of the town are shopping malls. It sounds morbid and not really inviting, but the first is a reason to visit after seeing hundreds of colonial towns and the second couldn't be more false. Nicas are far to nice for feeling uncomfortable :)

Probleme, die wieder nur ich habe.

One of the problems, that are mine alone.

Granada. 101 spanische Kolonialstaedte *sing*

Granada. 101 spanish colonial towns *sing*

Ometepe. Insel mit zwei Bergen. Jim Knopf hatte recht! Aber ohne Tunnel.

Ometepe. An island with two mountains. Reminds me of a german children's novel, that was placed on an island like that. The TV show started exaclty with "An island with two mountains".

Roatan.

Roatan. I could write, what I did there and what I've seen there. But it's just a plain paradise with beaches. And when I start with "it's boring", I will only get complains ;)

The most eastwardly (guess eastern is more right-ish, but I like what the dictionary gave me) big mayan settlement, famous for there detailed stelas. At least according to my guide book.

The most impressing thing in Copan where the tunnels. The tempels of Copan grew. Sometimes they simply build temple on temple, but to preserve the sacred statues and inscriptions they left chambers. In addition to that there where tunnels for connecting the several parts and canal systems. If you visit Copan, use your chance to visit them, it's more or less the only place where you can enter them.
